  • Patricia Davis Hikes

    Patricia Davis Hikes,  died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Eastern Star Home.

    She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a past Matron of Bright Star #16, Order of the Eastern Star.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Rhea Davis; a son Tim Murphy; and a grandson Jason Owen.

  • Robert Edward Bucks, 58

    Robert Edward Bucks, 58, of Caneyville died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.  
    He was born Oct. 19, 1954, in Canton, Ill., the son of the late Albert and Betty (Kitchen) Bucks. He was a brick mason.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.  

  • Joann Woosley, 70

    Joann Woosley, 70, of Caneyville died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at her residence. 

    She was born March 7, 1943, in Edmonson County, the daughter of the late James and Mary Elsie (Forbes) Sowders. She was a teacher’s aide for the Jefferson County School System. She was a member of Asphalt Church of Christ in Edmonson County.  

  • Earnest Sandlin, 85

    Earnest Sandlin, 85, of Leitchfield died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield.

    He was born July 13, 1928, in Hazard, the son of the late Plesent “Ples” and Geneva Crain Sandlin.

    He was a retired farmer and a husband, father, grandfather and friend.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cuba Logsdon Sandlin; a daughter, Annabelle Decker; three brothers, Herman, J.B. and James Sandlin; and a sister, Nelline Warren.

  • Ruth Thomas 'Tommie' Wright, 88

    Ruth Thomas "Tommie" Wright, 88, of Irvington died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown.

    She was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Hudson, the daughter of the late Noah and Gola Lucas Paul. She was a member of Constantine United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She and her husband Ova Lee owned and operated a grocery store in Constantine and later she was a pharmacy technician for Parks Pharmacy in Irvington. She enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking and crossword puzzles.

  • Louise Atkins, 83

    Louise Atkins, 83, of Summerfield Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Clarkson died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in Louisville.

    She was a housewife and mother. She was married to the late Robert Atkins and was the daughter of the late Stoy and Nellie Clark Johnson.

    She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Fulkerson; and two brothers, Calvin Johnson and Richard “Dickie” Johnson.

  • Frances Jewel Critchelow Spencer, 87

    Frances Jewel Critchelow Spencer, 87, of McDaniels died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

    She was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Breckinridge County, the daughter of the late Edd and Lillie Brown Critchelow.

    She was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She retired from Kentucky State Parks in 1996, where she served as head cook. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching birds.

  • Joyce Stacey Denham, 64

    Joyce Stacey Denham, 64, of Brownsville died Sept. 19, 2013, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

    She was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Williamson, WV, the daughter of Mildred T. Johnson.

    She was preceded in death by her mother; a sister, Marie Pease; and a brother, David Stacey.

  • Shirley Jean Lowe, 68

    Shirley Jean Lowe, 68, of Clarkson died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield.

    She was born March 30, 1945, in Jeffersonville, Ind., the daughter of the late Robert and Naomi Hester Wade. She was a housewife, who enjoyed decorating cakes. She was 25 year volunteer for the Hardin County School System and was a member of Pond Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
