Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) will host a Government Contracting Information Fair on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the at  Carroll Knicely Conference Center located at 2355 Nashville Road in Bowling Green.
 
This free event is open to the public and will answer questions and hopefully help lead businesses in the right direction towards obtaining federal contracts.

Pounds and Inches Away celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting at 350 Southgate Mall. Franchise owner Rebecca Fleming cut the ribbon for the opening with Sara Dunham, store manager and Linda Peterson, Sara’s mother holding the ribbon. Grayson County Chamber of Commerce members were present for the celebration.

Across the Commonwealth, 1,442 Kentuckians landed a permanent job as the result of a federally subsidized summer employment program in 2010. WorkNow Kentucky provided 9,314 low-income youth and adults with children with temporary summer employment. Of those participants, 19 percent transitioned into unsubsidized permanent jobs.
 

Kentucky is among the first four states in the country to begin receiving federal dollars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for electronic health records under the 2009 stimulus law. The funding – Medicaid incentive payments - will assist with the purchase or upgrade of information technology systems for health care records.
