    Mack Page, 78, of Clarkson died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

    He was born Oct. 9, 1934. He was a mechanic for Chicago Transit Authority.

    Survivors include two sons, Mack J. (Melinda) Page and David M. Page of Leitchfield; a daughter, Elaine (Dan) Curtis of Clarkson; a brother, Hugh (Wilma) Page of Cub Run; and a sister, Mary (John) Ebner of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Page; and parents, Hugh and Clara Bryant Page.

  • Emma L. Pitzl, 91

    Emma L. Pitzl, 91, of Horse Branch died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. 

    She was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Yeaman, the daughter of the late Morton and Verbel (Slaughter) Decker. She was a cashier and wife of the late Joseph Pitzl.

    Survivors include two children, Wesley Decker of Horse Branch and Frieda Bonomini of South Dakota; a sister, Ruby Hart of Paducah; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pitzl.

    Gladys Thompson, 85, of Leitchfield (formerly of Pierce) died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

    She was born March 26, 1928, in Pierce, the daughter of John W. and Pearl Houk Jeffries.

    She was a housewife and a member of the Baptist faith, who enjoyed shopping, cooking and gardening.

    Martina House, 58, of Leitchfield died Monday, July 22, 2013, at her residence.

    Martina House was born Feb. 26, 1955, in Brownsville. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Zora Lindsey Johnson.

    She was a truck driver for U.S. Xpress.

  • Joseph Kevin Hale, 62

    Joseph Kevin Hale, 62, of Glasgow died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Glasgow Health and Rehab.

    He was born July 7, 1951, in Leitchfield. He was the son of the late J. G. and Anna Tully Hale.

    He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and an avid University of Kentucky fan.

    He is survived by his brother, John Hale of Willowick, Ohio.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, J.G. and Anna Tully Hale.

    Graveside service was Tuesday, July 23 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Big Clifty with the Rev. Steve Hohman officiating.

    Donna Jean Chaffins Butler, 53 of Bowling Green died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her


    The Liverpool, England native was a daughter of the late Norman W. Chaffins and

    Marion J. Broad Chaffins who survives. She was a district manager of Dollar Tree

    and Romans Road Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her husband, David Butler; a son, Curtis (Alicia) Butler; a daughter,

    Teia Butler; three grandchildren, Seth Butler, Haley Butler, Keegan Butler; three

  • James Patrick Alvey, 87

    James Patrick Alvey, 87, of Leitchfield died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

    He was born March 14, 1926, in Wax, the son of James Benny and Amy Alvey.

    He was a retired dairy, tobacco and hay farmer and also retired from Pro Group. He served briefly in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received an honorable discharge.

  • Ada Laura Howard Murphy, 44

    Ada Laura Howard Murphy, 44, of St. Peters, Mo., died Sunday, July 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.

    She was born May 18, 1969, in Owensboro and attended grade school in Leitchfield. She graduated from Henderson County High School, attended Eastern Kentucky University and University of Kentucky where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She worked for State Farm in O’Fallon, Mo. She was a lifetime Methodist and attended Harvester Nazarene Church in St. Peteres.

    Lynda Gayle McStoots, 43, of Leitchfield died Monday, July 15, 2013, at her father’s residence in Leitchfield.

    She was born Feb. 10, 1970, in Leitchfield, the daughter of Mack McStoots and Mary Lou Mudd McStoots.

    She was disabled, and enjoyed shopping, fishing and spending time with her animals.
