  • Alta H. Greene, 96

    Alta H. Greene, 96, of Uniontown, Ohio, died at the home of her daughter Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in Uniontown.

    She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Grayson County, the daughter of the late James and Sadie Tomes Miller.

    She was a homemaker.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hulick Greene; and several brothers and sisters.

    Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janette and Mark Warner; a brother, Sammy Miller and his wife, Ida Mae; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Miller.

  • Jewell Haynes, 93

    Jewell Haynes, 93, of Leitchfield died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Grayson Manor Nursing Home.

    She was born March 8, 1920 in Big Reedy.  She was a retired secretary/manager at Leitchfield Transfer and was a member of Clarkson Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Emma Miller Haynes.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Eita Botlon, Alma White and Anna Elmore; three brothers, Eldridge, Elbert and Orelle Lee Haynes.

    Survivors include a brother, Gordon Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.

  • John Owen Hart, 85

    John Owen Hart, 85, of Big Clifty died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    He was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Grayson County. He was a retired Carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Antioch Christian Church.

    He married Dixie Hornback Hart and was the son of the late Claude and Lena Pence Hart.

  • Judy Lee Crowder, 65

    Judy Lee Crowder, 65, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at her residence.

    She was born Sept. 24, 1948 in Louisville, the daughter of William and Celestie Daughterty Crowder.  She was a professional contract photographer.  

    She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Worth; brothers, Clement Crowder and William Evyn Crowder.  

  • Gracie Lee Scalf, 100

    Gracie Lee Scalf, 100, of Leitchfield died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

    She was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Edmonson County, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Phoebe Jane Hack Hayes.

    She was a retired nurse’s aide at Grayson Manor Nursing Home and a 53-year member of Leitchfield First General Baptist Church.

  • Walter J. Williford, 82

    Walter J. Williford, 82, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at his residence.

    He was born Sept. 7, 1931. He was a self-employed engineer and a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean War. He was married to the late Barbara Williford and was the son of the late Etheridge Payne and Louise Payne.

    Survivors include three sons, Walter G. (Luz), David Bruce (Emilia) and Chris E. Williford; four daughters Susan (Danny) Clemons, Debbie (Jeff) Minter, Becky (George) Greenwell and Sammi Williford; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Olivia (Billy) Nix.

  • Margie Lucille Willis, 69

    Margie Lucille Willis, 69, of Leitchfield died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville.

    She was born Jan. 20, 1944, in LaGrange, the daughter of the late Paul and Ruby Pauline Black Jackson.

    She was a nursery attendant at Leitchfield First United Methodist Church and a member of Leitchfield Church of God. She enjoyed shopping, listening to music of all kinds, and watching old movies.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Eugene Jackson.

  • Ronald M. Hash, 65

    Ronald M. Hash, 65, of Clarkson died Oct. 15, 2013, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was a retired nurse and a veteran of the Airforce where he served as a pilot.

    He was the son of the late Murl and Lovey Hash.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Lee Hash; and two brothers, Leon and Richard Hash.

    Survivors include his wife, Noni Carter-Hash; a son, Keith and his wife, Jennifer Hash; a step son, Richard Legel; and two granddaughters, Maria and Isabela Hash.

  • Marian ‘Jeanie’ Simcoe, 59

    Marian “Jeanie” Simcoe, 59, of Clermont died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.

    Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Jones and Vanessa Simcoe; brothers, John, Bill (Mary) and Tommy (Debbie) Simcoe; six grandchildren, Dylan Jones, Jonathan Jones, Steven Jones, Tyler Simcoe, Damon Jones and Ashton Jones; and a great-grandson, Collin Cantrell.

    The funeral will begin at noon Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway in Shepherdsville with cremation to follow.
