  • Getting along with others

Personality conflicts cause many problems in our lives. We don’t get along with some people and when relationships are bad, life stinks. It is very important that we learn to get along with others.

James says in 3:18, “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.” We sow seeds every day in our relationships and one day there will be a harvest. What kind of harvest will it be? It all depends on the seeds we have sown. The question then becomes: How can I plant seeds of peace and have peaceful relationships?

  • Is there an unseen spiritual battle going on now?

Question: “Is there an unseen spiritual battle going on right now?”

Answer: Yes, the Bible says there is a spiritual battle going on which may not be seen with human eyes. Paul wrote to the church of the Ephesians stating we do not fight against flesh and blood but against rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. The forces of evil are not always visible to the naked eye but may be known to those who are spiritually discerning.

  • Dealing with death of a spouse

Question: My spouse just died: What advice do you have?

Answer: Standing next to a casket is not the time for deep theological answers to life’s greatest interruption. There are answers to the spiritual mysteries and other questions you have but the pain is so loud right now that it may be hard to hear them. The questions do need to be discussed but now may not be the best time to search for those answers. Do seek to get answers but save the topic for later.

  • Andrew Peterson writes his life’s success with faith

“We went dancing in the minefields

We went sailing in the storm

And it was harder than we dreamed

But I believe that’s what the promise is for.”

The promise urges on, especially for singer, songwriter Andrew Peterson, who still cries out life songs after years of writing deep phrases and compelling melodies.
