“When I grow up I want to be an actress,” or “an astronaut” or maybe even “the president.” They may be dreams of the young, but students in the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program often get to experience those “want to be’s” right inside the classroom. Specialized units coordinated by GATE teacher Teresa Blain bring the arts, science, government, and much more into the world of Grayson County GATE students each week, as she works with 115 elementary and 87 middle school students across the district.
