Ema “Junior” Sapp, a retired health and physical education teacher was injured in a wreck Monday morning on the Bluegrass Parkway.
Kentucky State Police Trooper John Adams is investigating the collision that occurred at 10:25 EDT, 15 miles north of Springfield. Sapp, 64, of Leitchfield was driving a 1995 Ford Taurus west toward Leitchfield when he ran off the roadway and struck a guard rail.
He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was airlifted from the scene and transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Sapp is currently listed in critical, but stable condition. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Sapp taught at Grayson County High School for more than 30 years. He retired in 2008.
