The Lady Cougars sweep the first round of the 12th District Tournament, defeating Whitesville Trinity, 83-26.
Kylee Gorby lead the Lady Cougars in scoring with 20 points, followed by Halee Johnson and Maddie Stewart.
Coach Brad Johnson gave many players time on the floor during Monday night's contest. He told the girls before the game that it was a game they couldn't lose. Despite the difference in talent levels, Johnson focused his team on little things that make the game.
"I believe offensively we're as good as any team in the region," Johnson said, looking forward to the final district game and regional tournament.
"If we play Lady Cougar basketball, we should be okay. We're not taking anyone lightly," Johnson said.
Edmonson County continues in the district tournament with a close win against Butler County, 58-52.
The Lady Cougars will face Edmonson County at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Cougar gym.
