Advent Day of Prayer is Dec. 8

An Advent Day of Prayer is scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, from Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center, Maple Mount, 12 miles west of Owensboro.
Led by Msgr. Bernard Powers, the Advent Prayer Day will help deepen one’s faith in the midst of celebrating this holiest of seasons. (Note: Advent begins Nov. 27 and continues through Christmas Day.)
Msgr. Bernard Powers is a retired priest of the Diocese of Owensboro. For many years, he has served God and God’s people as teacher, pastor, retreat director, and spiritual director. From 1985 until his retirement in 2001, he was associate director of Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center. A published poet, Msgr. Powers holds a master’s degree in spirituality from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. He continues to conduct retreats and other programs, as well as private retreats for those seeking spiritual direction.
